Fisherman's Report Of Submerged Body In Connecticut River Leads To Discovery Of Mannequin Torso

A report of a body in the Connecticut River set off a massive search by state and local officials that in the end yielded not a body, but the torso of a mannequin.

A mannequin was pulled from the Connecticut River where a fisherman reported seeing a submerged body.

The search began shortly after receiving the report around 2:15 p.m., on Tuesday, June 4, when a local fisherman reported to the Enfield Police Department that he may have seen what he believed was a body submerged in the water along the shoreline of Suffield, said the Suffield Police Department.

Following the report, the Suffield Police Department, fire department and ambulance association in conjunction with the Connecticut State Police dive team searched the river.

After about an hour-and-a-half of searching by dive team members, the state police recovered the torso of a mannequin from the river in the area where the body was seen.

"This concludes the investigation," the department said.
